Learn on Coursera, notes that file themselves.

Xuan Hieu Learning Note is a free Chrome extension for Coursera learners. The side panel knows which course, module and lesson you are on, so every note lands in the right place; transcripts and readings become Markdown in one click.

Every note is linked to the open Course › Module › Lesson.

Transcripts and readings to Markdown

Pull a video transcript or a reading page with one click.

AI explains, you decide

The AI Quiz tab explains the answer and why the other options are wrong; it never submits for you.

Your data stays local

Notes and API keys live in the browser's storage; the author runs no server for the extension.

How it works

Xuan Hieu Learning Note

  1. 01Open a Coursera lesson

The side panel detects the course, module and lesson.

  2. 02Take notes, pull the transcript

One click brings the transcript or reading into a Markdown note.

  3. 03Review and export

Browse notes as a course tree, export Markdown or back up as JSON.

Why it exists

On a Coursera course, notes end up scattered: some in a notes app, some on paper, some only in your head. When it is time to review, nobody remembers which note belongs to which lesson.

Learning Note puts the notes next to the lesson, and lets the lesson decide where each note goes.

What it does

Course map. The Context tab shows the current course, module and lesson, suggests the right tab for the lesson type (video, reading, quiz, lab) and shows all notes as a Module › Lesson › Notes tree, with search, filters and drag-and-drop ordering.

Focused notes. The Notes tab has quick prompts: Summary, Key points, Simple explanation, Review questions. Videos get a Transcript button, readings a Reading content button, quizzes an AI Quiz button. Drafts save themselves and survive closing the panel or Chrome.

AI Quiz, you stay in control. It reads the questions and options on the page, asks the AI per question or for the whole quiz, and shows a suggested answer with an explanation, including why the other options are wrong. You can re-ask in Vietnamese and save the whole quiz as one note. Start with the built-in Quick AI, which needs no key, or add your own API key for the AI service you prefer.

Export and backup. Export Markdown grouped by Module › Lesson › Notes; back up and restore everything as JSON when you change computers.

What it does not do

  • It never submits answers. AI Quiz only explains; you choose and submit.
  • No server owned by the author. Notes and API keys stay in the browser's storage on your computer.
  • It does not read pages you do not act on. It reads Coursera pages only to detect the lesson, and pulls transcripts, readings or quiz text when you click.
  • Text you send to AI goes directly from your browser to the provider you picked.
